Budget Debate 2024: Fahmi Aliman on according more protection for lower-wage workers
NTUC Operations and Mobilisation Division Director Fahmi Aliman calls for more support to protect lower-wage workers to improve their income security, quality of life, and navigate their careers.
In his parliamentary speech, NTUC Operations and Mobilisation Division Director Fahmi Aliman outlined measures to support lower-wage workers, recognising them as among the most vulnerable groups.
The proposed solutions include implementing policies to prevent the resetting of employment benefits during contractual changes and expanding the Progressive Wage Model to encompass more sectors.
The emphasis is on addressing challenges faced by vulnerable workers by prioritising better wages and improved job opportunities to alleviate the impact of rising living costs.
